October Newsletter

This morning the leaves crunched under my feet on a nice walk to the local coffee shop. My conversation with my mom on the phone was periodically interrupted with a “hello” from a fellow passerby. This week was particularly busy and maybe for that reason, the little crunch under the feet felt like a particular delight.

This month of October is such a paradox. We’ve got our neighbors with spooky decorations flying up the entryways of their homes. My favorite tomb stone down the street reads “See you soon.” While it makes me laugh, the truth is jarring. It is the reminder of friends and family who suffer or the deaths of innocents in natural catastrophes like hurricanes.

This is the paradox: that the warmth of home draws us inward as the cold nips at our sleeves. The cozy jacket buttons up around our necks while that melancholy grief taps us on the shoulder, reminding us all that change is inevitable. Eternity looms about us. What are we going to do? As we all seek to face the beauty and pain of this world, may we make space for authentic friendships to form.

Join one (or all) of the upcoming events taking place this October–and the start of November. Message me any time if you think you’d like to come. NO pressure, performance, expectations, or payment required.

The Power of Music

With Matt & Teresa Weesner

Music shapes the landscape of our environments. Listen in as Matt Weesner shares the stories from his life and plays the music from those stories. Hear about the development of the great musician Bach and how that has impacted Matt’s ethos in this form of soul-shaping melody. Matt is a professional musician, storyteller, father, church music director, and classical music host for Colorado Public Radio. His wife Teresa will also share a piece of the story. She is a pastor, community builder, mother, and holds the artist heart. Let this time be an encouragement to all artists and creators to see music in the fabric of their lives.
